Eta Justine Mattera was born on June 8, 1960, in Istanbul, Turkey. Her parents were Turkish Jews who immigrated to the United States when she was a child. Mattera grew up in the New York City borough of Brooklyn, where she attended Erasmus Hall High School. She went on to study at the High School of Performing Arts and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Acting Career
Mattera began her acting career in the early 1980s, appearing in small roles in films and television shows. She landed her first major role in the 1985 film "The Breakfast Club," in which she played the character Claire Standish.
