Scotland Manager Steve Clarke Extends Contract Until 2026
Clarke: “I’ve Become a Better Person-to-Person Manager”
Scotland Head Coach Aims to Guide Team to Euro 2024 Success
Steve Clarke has agreed to remain Scotland head coach until 2026, extending his contract by two years.
The 57-year-old has succeeded where six managers before him failed, leading Scotland to their first major tournament in 23 years at Euro 2020.
Clarke believes he has become a better manager during his time in charge and is looking to guide Scotland to even greater success in the years to come.
“I’ve become a better person-to-person manager,” Clarke said.
“I’ve learned a lot about myself and about the players. I think I’m a better communicator now and I’m able to get my message across more effectively.”
Scotland will face Germany in the opening game of Euro 2024, but Clarke insists his team will show no fear against the hosts.
“We’ll go into the game with respect, but we’ll also go into it with confidence,” Clarke said.
“We’ve shown that we can compete with the best teams in Europe and we’re looking to do that again at Euro 2024.”
Even after a sensational Euro 2024 qualifying campaign, Clarke is looking for his side to take the next step.
“We’ve got a good squad of players and we’re heading in the right direction,” Clarke said.
“We’re not going to be satisfied with just qualifying for tournaments. We want to go there and win.”
